Tab Workspaces

Legal

Privacy policy

Effective October 9, 2026. This policy covers the Tab Workspaces Chrome extension (“Tab Workspaces”, “we”) published by EthanApp, and this website.

In short: Tab Workspaces has no server and no user accounts. It reads the addresses and titles of your tabs only to save and reopen them, and everything it saves stays in your browser on your computer. Nothing is sent to us or to anyone else.

1. What Tab Workspaces handles, and why

DataWhat happens to it
Addresses (URLs) and titles of your tabs, tab groups and windowsRead with Chrome's tabs and tabGroups permissions when you save a window, while a saved workspace is open (to keep it up to date), and every few minutes for the automatic backups in History. Stored in Chrome's local extension storage on your computer. Never sent anywhere.
Workspaces, versions, templates and backupsWhat you save, the values you last typed into a template, and the backups of your open windows are stored in Chrome's local extension storage on your computer.
Files you import or exportImport files (from Tab Workspaces, OneTab, Session Buddy, Toby or any list of links) are read on your computer. Exports are downloaded to your computer.
SettingsStored in Chrome's local extension storage on your computer.

Tab Workspaces does not read the content of the pages you visit, your Chrome history list, your bookmarks, your passwords or your cookies, and it does not load anything from the sites in your tabs (sites are shown with a letter badge, not their icon).

2. What we don't do

3. Chrome Web Store Limited Use

The use of information received by Tab Workspaces complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Your tab data is used only to provide Tab Workspaces' single purpose: saving, restoring and organising your tabs and windows. It is not transferred to anyone, not used for advertising, not used to determine creditworthiness, and not read by any person.

4. Permissions

PermissionWhy
tabsSee the address and title of the tabs it saves. Chrome describes this permission as “read your browsing history”.
tabGroupsSave and recreate your tab groups.
storage, unlimitedStorageKeep your data on your computer, without Chrome's 10 MB limit.
sidePanelShow the extension in Chrome's side panel.
alarmsTake the automatic backups every few minutes.

5. Keeping and deleting your data

Your data stays until you delete it. Delete single workspaces, templates or backups in the extension; delete everything with Settings → Delete all saved data; and uninstalling the extension removes all of it from Chrome. Only the last backups are kept (50 by default, adjustable in Settings). Download a backup first if you want to keep your workspaces.

6. This website

This website is a static site. It sets no cookies and runs no analytics. Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) may process standard request data, such as IP addresses, to deliver and protect the site.

7. Children

Tab Workspaces is not directed at children under 13 and collects no personal information from anyone.

8. Changes

If a future version handles data differently (for example optional encrypted sync), this policy will be updated before that version is released, with a new effective date, and the new feature will ask for your consent before anything leaves your computer.
